Supervisory authorities

The Swiss National Bureau of Insurance (NBI) is subject to supervision by the Swiss Federal Roads Office FEDRO (art. 76b par. 2 of the road traffic act SVG).

The National Bureau of Insurance of the Principality of Liechtenstein, whose tasks are fulfilled by the Swiss National Bureau, is subject to supervision by the government of Liechtenstein (art. 72b par. 2 SVG-FL).

Approval of the contribution

The costs incurred by the NBI in performing its functions are financed by an annual contribution due by each car owner, whose amount is set by the NBI. This amount must be approved by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA (art. 76a par. 2 SVG) and by the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein (art. 72a par. 2 SVG-FL).
